1、 Preliminary forest site survey and tree selection (of utmost importance, with many accident sources)
1. Verify the forest red line by checking public welfare forests, natural forests, ancient and famous trees, forest fire prevention zones, and ecological red lines; Ancient trees and protected tree species are strictly prohibited from being used as load-bearing anchor points/platform support trees; Synchronize the inspection of fire prevention channels and fire water intake points in forest areas.
2. Tree selection criteria (on-site evaluation by a arborist)
·Adult high-altitude line (≥ 2m): breast height diameter ≥ 28cm, hard wood, no decay center, no cavities, no large area of bark necrosis, stable root system without tilting, no termites/decay bacteria; Priority should be given to evergreen, hard and broad, pine and fir species;
·Low altitude parent-child line (<2m): chest diameter ≥ 25cm;
· ❌ Prohibited: withered trees, half rot, shallow roots prone to lodging, root waterlogging, trees frequently struck by lightning, tilted trees, and brittle branches of fruit trees;
·Each stressed tree shall be numbered and recorded in a tree inspection ledger, and annual tree health re inspection and decay detection shall be conducted.
3. Clear distance between trees and terrain trees: 4-6m for children's lines and 6-10m for adults' lines; when the distance is too large, independent steel columns should be added (not dependent on tree stress); Avoid steep slopes, flash floods, and rockfall zones.
4. Meteorological risk forest areas are prone to lightning, and high-altitude lifelines and zip lines must be protected against lightning; Clear threshold for strong winds: Stop operation when the instantaneous strong wind reaches or exceeds level 8; Pre calculate the duration of foggy weather in forest areas (shut down when visibility is insufficient).
2、 Overall Layout and Line Classification Design
1. Green Line (Parent Child Preschool): Height 1.0-1.8m; Suitable for heights 1.0-1.3m; Simple obstacles, wide pedals, small spacing, can be accompanied by parents throughout the journey; The ground can be cushioned; Not classified as special equipment;
2. Blue line (for teenagers): height 2.5-3.5m; height ≥ 1.3m; moderate difficulty; The safety officer can supervise nearby along the route; Belonging to special equipment;
3. Red line (adult challenge line): Height 3.5-6m; Height ≥ 1.4m; Rich obstacles and large spans; Belonging to special equipment;
4. Black line (professional leap line): including tree zip lines (jungle zip lines) and large-span aerial crossings; Conduct separate type tests on the zip line, with independent up and down stations and independent buffer zones;
Layout key points:
·Each line is independently closed loop and one-way traffic, avoiding bidirectional collisions;
·Unified pre teaching area (training island): seat belt, self-locking buckle, lifeline operation teaching, must pass practical assessment before going online;
·Supporting facilities: equipment wearing area, waiting sunshade area, first aid point, forest fire prevention equipment point, equipment warehouse;
·Reserve forest evacuation routes between the lines without blocking the forest fire escape routes.
4、 Tree structure and tree body protection design (high-frequency stepping point: directly clamp the trunk)
1. The fixing method (strictly prohibited from punching holes, using hard steel clamps to tighten bark) adopts a wide flexible tree protection pad+a circular hoop/woven belt wrap to disperse pressure; Reserve tree growth margin with hoops and loosen annually; Metal parts should not come into direct contact with tree bark, and protective sheaths should be used at the cut points; It is prohibited to drill holes or drill bolts on tree trunks under high stress.
2. Platform design on trees
·Priority suspension of the platform, not pressing on a single branch, with multiple support points to distribute the load;
·Platform pedals: anti-corrosion hardwood/anti slip patterned aluminum plate, gap resistant shoes, rounded corners polished;
·Platform guardrail: height ≥ 1.1m; high-altitude line platform enclosed protection; The platform load is calculated based on 3 times the rated personnel load;
·Leave ventilation space at the bottom of the platform to avoid damaging the bark.
3. Lifeline (continuous protection system, the most essential safety component for jungle crossing)
·Adopting an uninterrupted main lifeline steel cable and alternating protection with double locking buckles for tourists, ensuring uninterrupted protection throughout the entire process (uninterrupted protection system ICS); Do not allow breakpoint protection that unlocks one section at a time;
·The elevation of the lifeline is higher than the center of gravity of the tourists to prevent swinging and impact on tree trunks and branches;
·Lifeline anchor point: tree anchor point+independent steel column backup anchor, dual redundancy; Perform tension verification and anti-corrosion treatment on each anchor point;
·Steel cable: stainless steel/hot-dip galvanized high-strength steel cable, priority for 316 in humid and high corrosion environments in forest areas; Regular inspection and wear testing.
4. Obstacle components such as suspension bridges, plum blossom piles, swing pedals, and rope nets: ACQ anti-corrosion treatment is applied to logs, and stainless steel connectors are used; Choose anti UV static rope net for the rope net to prevent UV aging; All protruding edges and corners are protected.
5、 Fall protection, buffering, and avoidance space design
1. The uninterrupted lifeline is the first protection; Buffer network is auxiliary and cannot replace lifeline;
2. Free fall space below the lifeline: at least 1.8m clearance, avoiding ground stones, tree stumps, and roots;
3. Trim dangerous dead branches (collision risk branches) in advance on both sides of the obstacle and on the swinging path; No hard obstacles such as tree trunks are allowed within the swinging trajectory;
4. Buffer zone below zip line (jungle leap): Clear trees and rocks, seal off and isolate, and prohibit tourists and pedestrians from crossing below.
6、 Material, anti-corrosion, and lifespan control (due to humidity in the forest and rapid aging caused by ultraviolet radiation)
·Load bearing steel cables, shackles, pulleys, main anchors: stainless steel/hot-dip galvanized high-strength, marked with breaking force and safety factor ≥ 5;
·Wooden pedals and log obstacles: ACQ anti-corrosion wood, CCA (arsenic containing anti-corrosion, prohibited in forest land);
·Ribbon, static rope, protective rope: specially designed for outdoor UV resistance, with installation date recorded in the ledger; The lifespan of conventional outdoor ropes is 18-24 months, and they will be forcibly scrapped upon expiration, regardless of their appearance;
·Establish a quarterly inspection ledger for metal parts: wear, cracks, rust, deformation, and replace if the wear of the shackle exceeds 0.5mm.
7、 Identification, monitoring, communication, lightning warning
1. Identification system: entrance risk notification board, line classification board, height and age restrictions, lifeline operation prompts, lightning escape points, strong wind shutdown prompts, special equipment inspection bulletin board, emergency telephone number;
2. Monitoring: Full coverage of the teaching area, starting points of each line, and up and down stations on the zip line; Poor signal in the deep forest, equipped with wireless intercom relay and safety officer walkie talkies for all staff;
3. Lightning protection: High altitude lifeline towers and sliding cable platforms should be grounded for lightning protection; Thunderstorm warning sounded, immediately clear the line, evacuate personnel to the forest lightning protection house (do not stand under trees);
4. Forest fire prevention signs are fully covered, and open flames are prohibited in forest areas.
8、 Operational positions, flow restrictions, and admission rules
1. Standard job requirements: teaching and training position, line section safety officer, equipment inspection position, first aid position, inspection position; Safety officer ratio: One certified rope safety officer is assigned for every 10-12 people on the high-altitude challenge line;
2. Strict entry threshold: Individuals with height, weight, age, hypertension, dizziness, pregnant women, and recent bone fractures are prohibited from entering the online community;
3. Capacity control: Calculate the maximum number of concurrent online users based on bottleneck platforms and monitoring capabilities, limit the flow of online users, and avoid crowding on tree platforms;
4. Equipment management: Full body seat belts, helmets, double buckles, pulleys, one set per person, reviewed by the safety officer every time worn, and regularly checked for tension.
9、 Emergency rescue system
Plan coverage: Trapped in high-altitude suspension, impact from falling, locking, overexertion of tourists' physical strength, lightning strikes, forest fires, and loss of personnel;
1. Each route is equipped with tree rescue anchor points and rope rescue kits;
2. Preset ground rescue connection channels and rescue stretcher transfer routes;
3. The emergency point is equipped with AED, trauma kit, and high-altitude rescue sling;
4. Regular drills: tree lifting rescue, lifeline rescue, fire evacuation, no less than 4 times a year;
5. Collaborate with local firefighting and rope rescue teams.
10、 Approval, inspection, and compliance checklist (matching your qualifications)
1. Forestry: forest land use approval, logging/pruning approval, ancient tree protection plan, forest fire prevention assessment;
2. Cultural tourism/sports: registration of high-risk sports projects;
3. Line: Third party safety status assessment report;
4. Insurance: Public Liability Insurance+High Risk Special Accident Insurance;
5. Data archiving: tree inspection report, anchor tension report, steel cable inspection record, maintenance ledger, drill record.
11、 High frequency fatal pit (key avoidance)
❌ Relying solely on the force of trees, without independent backup steel columns, the trees will rot and fall;
❌ Discontinuous protection (requires repeated removal of the hook, easily dislodged);
❌ Share a set of lifeline and type test certificate between the low altitude children's line and the high-altitude main line;
❌ Steel cables are directly tied to tree bark without protective pads, and peeling off the bark can lead to tree death and structural failure;
❌ The swinging path did not clear the branches, and the tourist was injured when swinging and hitting the tree trunk;
❌ Not conducting annual re inspection of trees, no internal decay can be seen;
❌ Forest fire exits are occupied by facilities and platforms.
